Corneal refractive therapy utilizes specially designed contact lenses that reshape the eye, effectively correcting your nearsightedness and astigmatism while you sleep. The lenses are removed upon awakening and distance vision will be clear for the day without the need for glasses or contact lenses. CRT is a safe, reversible alternative to lasik surgery. It is also a procedure that is very effective for active teenagers. Recent studies have shown that corneal refractive therapy may help to slow the progression of nearsightedness for those patients who are experiencing the need for continually stronger prescriptions every year, so often common for many patients in those developmental teen years.

Dr. Harrison is certified in the design and fitting of CRT lenses and most patients can be dispensed an initial treatment lens from our extensive fitting lens inventory. These specially designed rigid contact lenses are made of a highly oxygen permeable plastic and are very comfortable for overnight wear, even for those patients who have never previously worn contact lenses.

An eye examination can determine if you would be a good candidate for corneal refractive therapy (CRT).
